Kpmg Metaverse Meeting Room

14 or quite a while back I savaged Bill Sheridan of the Maryland Association of CPAs on Twitter about uncovering a weapons reserve they’d reserved on CPA Island, a then-progressive virtual space in the game Second Life MACPA had set up for… bookkeeping things. Back in 2008 CPA Island was the first (as it were? It never truly got on IIRC) of its sort and vowed to be an intriguing center point of pixels for bookkeeping professionals.

Here’s a 2008 Journal of Accountancy write-up:

Second Life is a virtual world with schooling, advertising, and financial ramifications. CPA Island is the focal point of the public bookkeeping calling in Second Life.

At a base, CPA Island presents an imaginative correspondence medium to engage another age. This age has grown up with high velocity Internet network, texting, and multiplayer web based gaming.

The soul behind CPA Island goes past plainly showing a consciousness of the different range of abilities of this new age. It embraces and praises these abilities as essential to the fate of the bookkeeping profession.

The financial ramifications of Second Life are quite recently unfurling. Suspend mistrust, sign on, and experience CPA Island and different parts of Second Life for yourself.
