The British Army’s true Youtube and Twitter accounts were compromised Sunday and programmers utilized them to advance crypto, including bitcoin and ether giveaway tricks highlighting Tesla CEO Elon Musk.
British Army’s Social Media Accounts Used to Promote Bitcoin, Crypto, NFT Scams
The British Army affirmed Sunday that its true Youtube and Twitter accounts were breached.
The armed force’s confirmed Twitter handle with almost 363K devotees retweeted various posts advancing non-fungible token (NFT) tricks before they were taken out by Twitter. During the break, the record name, profile picture, and standard picture were changed to look like NFT collections.
Meanwhile, the military’s Youtube account, which has 177K endorsers, was renamed “Ark Invest” and four live recordings advancing bitcoin and ether giveaway tricks were transferred to the record. The con artists publicized that for each bitcoin or ether shipped off them, you will get two times the sum back. The recordings included Tesla CEO Elon Musk, previous Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey, and Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood.

Tricksters frequently utilize people of note and superstars to advance their digital money tricks, especially bitcoin and ether giveaways.
Besides Musk, Dorsey, and Wood, other notable individuals who have been highlighted in crypto giveaway tricks incorporate Microsoft fellow benefactor Bill Gates, Berkshire Hathaway’s Warren Buffett, and Apple prime supporter Steve Wozniak.
In June, the U.S. Government Trade Commission (FTC) uncovered that in excess of 46,000 individuals announced losing more than $1 billion in digital money to tricks starting from the start of last year.
The representative for the British Army was cited by Reuters as saying: “We take information security extremely seriously and are resolving the issue. Until the investigation is complete it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
