Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao States He Won’t Reassume Role at Crypto Exchange Following Incarceration
In his first public statement since being released from a four-month detention in the United States, Zhao Changpeng, Binance’s co-founder and ex-CEO, expressed that he has no intention of assuming the CEO position again at the company.
Zhao, speaking at the Binance Blockchain Week conference on Thursday, his first public engagement post-imprisonment, stated that reclaiming leadership at Binance, the company he founded in 2017, is not something he will contemplate.
“In the judge’s estimation, he afforded me considerable leniency,” Zhao reflected. “It is, of course, a matter of personal interpretation. I don’t dwell on it excessively. I’m sure opinions here vary, but I am focused on moving forward.”
Despite any potential opportunities, the crypto mogul affirmed that his return to Binance is not an option, especially as he is presently prohibited from partaking in the company’s management due to a plea agreement with the U.S. authorities.
“There is no necessity for me to return, nor do I harbor any desire to do so,” he stated unequivocally.
