Days after revealing the launch of decentralized finance (DeFi) platform World Liberty Financial on Rug Radio, former U.S. President Donald Trump made a Bitcoin purchase for burgers at PubKey Bitcoin bar in Manhattan.
With the help of Bitcoin supporters at the bar, Trump successfully completed the transaction by scanning a QR code and approving it on his smartphone. He expressed his desire for the Republican Party to win in the upcoming New York election during his visit to the Bitcoin-themed establishment.
Addressing the crowd after the transaction, Trump praised the crypto community and urged them to vote in the November elections. He warned of potential regulatory challenges for crypto startups if Vice President Kamala Harris wins, emphasizing the importance of voting for a favorable outcome.
Trump’s newfound support for cryptocurrency has been evident through his NFT collections on Polygon. He emphasized the significance of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and their impact on the financial landscape.
Despite Bitcoin’s primary use as a store of value, Trump’s use of it for a real-world purchase sparked discussions among Crypto Twitter users. The experience of buying burgers with Bitcoin left Trump impressed, hinting at a new era in financial transactions.
