Amazon Hardware Exec Takes Another Swipe At Zuckerberg’s Metaverse Fantasy

Meta and its CEO Mark Zuckerberg can’t get a break — everybody simply continues to say that they would rather not live in the metaverse. This week, it’s Amazon’s head of gadgets David Limp, who said that he would rather not live in a virtual world 24/7, or even a couple of hours a day.

Limp communicated comparable perspectives when talked with last month by the Financial Times, where he invested the vast majority of his energy embracing his vision of ambient computing — the possibility that the PC is all over — as he’s been quick to do throughout the past year and change.

While talking at The Wall Street Journal’s Future of Everything Festival, Limp was asked what he was thinking about the metaverse. He expressed that while he accepts that there’ll be “some form of place-shifting” later on, he’s centered around gadgets that “enhance the here and now.” He said that even with current tech like telephones and remote earbuds, it very well may be difficult to speak with his children, in any event, when they’re in a similar house. “I want to try to work on technologies that bring people’s heads up, get them to enjoy the real world about them, make the family a more communal experience.”
