Avatars Unite: Our Pitching Journey in the Metaverse

I was dressed as a gigantic pink teddy bear, and my business partner sported angel wings and rollerblades. When we wrapped up, someone on the team broke out into the worm dance. It was far from your typical pitch meeting.
At Unbound, we steer clear of cookie-cutter creativity — and definitely avoid beige boardrooms. So when a major progressive brand invited us to participate in a high-stakes, three-way pitch, we realized a Teams call just wouldn’t suffice. We wanted to create a spectacle. Something that screamed: We understand your world — and we’re eager to build within it.
So, we decided to pitch in the metaverse.
All teams arrived as avatars in a custom-designed digital environment that we built and coded ourselves. This was not some low-res Zoom gimmick. It was truly immersive.
Tactile. Imagine less “screen share,” and more “step inside the concept.” Campaigns manifested as dynamic 3D installations. Our strategy came alive through interactive settings. You didn’t just view the work — you explored it.
Were we anxious? Absolutely. New technology always comes with questions. Will it malfunction? How will participants log in? Will we see each other’s faces? Will it resonate? Will we unintentionally turn into penguins? Or accidentally end up sitting on the client’s lap in the auditorium (true story)…
But we dove in anyway — because that’s what innovation requires. You don’t have to be a metaverse guru. All you need is curiosity. Openness. And a willingness to experiment.
That’s what clients are drawn to: not flawless execution, but tangible proof that you’re invested in what’s next. Rather than being bold for its own sake, we demonstrated who we are: creative partners who don’t just propose ideas but cultivate dynamic spaces for them to thrive. In a landscape where everyone claims to be “future-facing,” we prefer to substantiate that claim.
Yes, great chemistry and insightful thinking still win pitches. But in an overcrowded and overly scripted new business arena, standing out is essential. Hosting this pitch in the metaverse was a definitive statement. We’re not just another agency with polished slides. We aim to evoke emotions.
So, when you pitch the future next time — consider showing up in it. You don’t need to know it all. Just show up ready to have some fun.
