Industry 4.0 giants assert that the German automotive sector has obtained benefits from the Metaverse

Metaverse gains for German automotive sector, claim Industry 4.0 giants

A recent update from the forefront of Industrie 4.0 highlights the ongoing importance of the metaverse concept in the corporate world. Let’s take a closer look at some of the key players…

In collaboration with the industrial consultancy Drees & Sommer, Deutsche Telekom’s T-Systems division is focusing on developing metaverse digital twins for Industry 4.0 factory operations. Utilizing Nvidia’s Omniverse platform, they have successfully completed initial projects with undisclosed customers in the automotive industry.

The objective is to create real-time digital replicas of production and logistics processes, enabling the monitoring of interactions between people, equipment, systems, and buildings. This helps prevent conflicts and issues that could hinder Industry 4.0 initiatives. This initiative exemplifies the utilization of the industrial metaverse in the corporate sector, a concept increasingly discussed in the market since Meta’s introduction of the consumer metaverse.

The Omniverse platform allows manufacturing companies to integrate various planning systems on a central platform, facilitating the development of innovative solutions. This streamlined approach enhances collaboration and efficiency among internal and external teams, resulting in improved data accuracy, early concept evaluations, higher planning quality, and smoother implementation.

By creating digital twins of factories, the partners aim to prevent costly failures caused by defective equipment and unforeseen obstacles. The integration of expert systems fosters collaboration between different planning departments and partners, ultimately leading to lower costs throughout the project lifecycle.

The collaboration with the automotive customer/s involved pilot design, partner recruitment, integration, and scaling into production systems. Christian Hort, T-Systems’ senior vice president of automotive business, emphasized the transformative impact of combining technologies and expertise from all three companies.

Mathias Stach, associate partner at Drees & Sommer, highlighted their leadership in comprehensive factory planning across the factory’s entire life cycle. Their services encompass integrated process, production, and industrial building concepts, planning, implementation, commissioning, and ensuring production begins on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards. Few providers in Europe offer such comprehensive services under one roof.
