Leonardo Launches AI Factory and Invites Young Talent to Join in the Metaverse

The European Defence industry is confronted with urgent, global challenges that require innovative technological solutions. Leonardo is tackling these issues through a digital strategy founded on two main pillars: a supercomputing infrastructure and state-of-the-art digital research laboratories, all centralized in its new Advanced Cognitive Solution centre.

Greta Radaelli, Head of Advanced Cognitive Solution at Leonardo, highlighted at the Trento Festival of Economics during the panel “Scaling up AI with supercomputing” that it is “a type of AI Factory that consolidates all of Leonardo’s digital laboratories focused on artificial intelligence, deep digital technologies, and quantum computing into one unified space.”

In order to enhance its technological capabilities and attract new talent in STEM fields, the company has introduced “O.P.E.N.”, a metaverse initiative aimed at introducing advanced innovation to younger generations. Within this immersive virtual space, avatars representing various professional roles at Leonardo engage with digital twins of the company’s products, guiding visitors through the Group’s cutting-edge career opportunities.
