Metaverse Pioneer Hails ‘Exciting’ Potential For Maritime

Spot Ship, a cloud-based digital platform, is celebrating securing a tech titan from the gaming industry on its board.

Herman Narula, co-founder and CEO of British multinational tech company Improbable, will be joining the Spot Ship board, his first board role outside the Improbable Group. Narula, best known for his gaming and metaverse developments, will also participate in Spot Ship’s £2.5m funding round as an angel investor.

Improbable, founded in 2012 and headquartered in London, makes metaverse infrastructure and applications, as well as simulation software for video games and corporate use.

Spot Ship’s CEO and founder, James Kellett stated, “Herman has been a constant inspiration to me throughout the Spot Ship journey. His expertise in machine learning, simulation methodologies, and AI will be invaluable in enabling us to further our technology lead.”

Narula described maritime software as one of the “most exciting” sectors in tech today. “Spot Ship’s significant lead on parser accuracy perfectly sets it up as a leader in this critical industry,” Narula said.

Speaking with Splash, Kellett said he felt the news heralded the start of a big change for venture capital in maritime. “Essentially this is the start of a wall of Silicon Valley money coming fast,” Kellett said.

Spot Ship claims its position, cargo and line-up parsers are the most precise in the world, independently verified at over 97% accurate.
