Trump Organization Seeks Trademark for Metaverse and NFT Marketplace

DTTM Operations, a company owned by Trump, has filed trademarks for a metaverse and NFT marketplace under the “TRUMP” brand. The filing was submitted on February 24th to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and describes a wide virtual world that includes digital goods, Trump-branded services, and an NFT-based economy.
This action is in line with the President’s support for crypto since taking office on January 20th. Shortly after, the White House announced the first Crypto Summit scheduled for March 7th. This summit will gather industry leaders, policymakers, and investors to discuss the future of digital assets in the U.S.
Inside the Trump Metaverse
The filing indicates that the Trump metaverse will offer:
- Branded Digital and Physical Goods
- Virtual Services and Experiences
- Education and Coaching
- NFT Marketplace
According to trademark attorney Josh Gerben, the filing signifies the Trump Organization’s plans for future commercial activities under the brand.
Metaverse and NFT Market Trends
The filing coincides with a decrease in interest in the metaverse and NFTs compared to the peak in 2021-2022. Despite this, Trump’s ongoing involvement in blockchain ventures may foster excitement among his supporters and the crypto community.
Trump’s Crypto-Friendly Stance
Since his re-election, President Trump has been advocating for pro-crypto policies, including:
- Launching his own memecoin
- Committing to making the U.S. a global cryptocurrency hub
- Implementing a “Digital Asset Stockpile” Strategy
Additionally, members of the Trump family have supported crypto projects like World Liberty Financial.
