In February 2022, over 200 tokens with an estimated worth of $1.7 million had been stolen from NFT market OpenSea when a fraudster used a faux e mail purporting to be from the platform itself. A considerably bigger assault occurred in April 2022, with hackers utilizing a phishing put up on Instagram to steal an estimated $3 million value of high-value Bored Ape Yacht Membership NFTs, which steadily promote for six-figure sums.
Blockchain analysis agency Elliptic estimates that over $100 million value of NFTs have been stolen within the interval January to July 2022.
