Why This Facebook Group is Focusing on NFT News
In the Quad Cities, a metropolitan area encompassing five cities along the Iowa-Illinois border, residents can access news from various sources, including the Quad Cities Times, The Dispatch Argus (which shares ownership with the Quad Cities Times), WQAD (the local ABC affiliate), KWQC (the local NBC affiliate), and WVIK (the local NPR affiliate).
Interestingly, the Quad-City Times on Facebook boasts 76,000 followers, while the What’s Going on Quad Cities Facebook group, initiated by Harold DeFrieze, currently has 106,000 followers.
This indicates that many residents engage with local news not via traditional newspapers or broadcasts, but rather through a Facebook group.
In addition to Dig-A-Hash co-founder Ryan Segura, DeFrieze launched a new website for What’s Going on QC (often referred to as What’s Going on Quad Cities), which evolved from his Facebook group.
