New Delhi | Jagran Business Desk: The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on Thursday explained that the association doesn’t know about any virtual computerized resource trade utilizing the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for transactions.

“With reference to some recent media reports around the purchase of cryptocurrencies using UPI, National Payments Corporation of India would like to clarify that we are not aware of any crypto exchange using UPI,” peruses the NPCI statement.

The NPCI articulation comes in the scenery of media reports of buying choices of digital currencies by means of UPI. NPCI is an umbrella association for working retail installments and settlement frameworks in India.

Meanwhile, the Income Tax Department will watch out for each exchange on crypto trades as the 30% ‘crypto charge’ proposed in the Union Budget happen from April 1, 2022, said an authority. A senior Finance Ministry official said, “Our officers will keep a close eye on the Cryptocurrency exchanges which are around 40 in number where transactions in major coins like Bitcoin, Etherium are going on.”

Officials let ANI know that out of 40 digital money trades, 10 are significantly managing in the deal and acquisition of digital currencies and their turnover is between Rs 34,000 crore to Rs 1 trillion. The authority expressed other than crypto trades IT detectives will likewise follow the crypto exchange through detailing entities.

The official expressed that by July 1, 2022, when the division will begin deducting 1% Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on crypto exchanges, it will become more straightforward for the division to follow crypto transactions.
