Donald Trump Comments on Bitcoin and NFTs, Says He Likely Wouldn’t ‘Take It Away’ if Elected President

Donald Trump Signals Support for Digital Assets

Donald Trump, the former president and presumptive Republican nominee in 2024, is indicating his support for digital assets in a new CNBC interview. Trump suggested that if he were to be elected president again, he would not impose stricter regulations on the use of Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies.

Trump acknowledges the increasing prevalence of digital assets in everyday transactions, such as purchases, which has influenced his openness to supporting crypto, despite his preference for the US dollar. He cited the success of his “Never Surrender” golden high-top sneakers, which saw many purchases made using cryptocurrency.

During the launch of his limited edition sneaker run, Trump observed the significant use of cryptocurrencies, with the last pair of sneakers reportedly selling for around $450,000. He expressed surprise at the amount of sales made through cryptocurrency and recognized the growing adoption of these new forms of currency.

In December 2022, Trump ventured into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) by launching a collection on the Ethereum (ETH)-based platform OpenSea. This move came shortly after announcing his intention to run for the 2024 presidential election, demonstrating his evolving perspective on digital assets.
