Who Are Trump’s Crypto Allies? Who Opposes Him? Industry Mavens On Both Sides Flex In Presidential Race

During the campaign trail, Trump showed support for crypto, while Biden is now taking a softer stance on the industry. Leaders in the crypto space are divided on their preferences.

Surprisingly, crypto has become a hot topic in the 2024 US presidential election, with influential figures in the industry either rallying behind or opposing Donald Trump.

Recently, the former president and presumptive Republican Party nominee confirmed his participation in a Bitcoin conference in Nashville, Tennessee.

On the other hand, President Joe Biden is shifting his administration’s approach towards digital assets after being tough on the industry earlier.

However, the crypto elite remains split on their support for the incumbent president.

Here’s a summary of where the key players stand:

The Pro-Trump Camp

Ryan Selkis

Co-founder and CEO of Messari

Selkis has been a vocal supporter of Trump within the crypto industry, with his insights being highly regarded by many in the sector.

He plays a significant role in FairShake, a crypto super PAC that has raised nearly $180 million to back pro-crypto candidates.

As a prominent guest at Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s Florida property, Selkis managed to capture Trump’s attention on crypto policy, earning a shout-out.

Novogratz, also known as ‘Novo,’ the billionaire CEO of Galaxy Digital, is a registered Democrat hopeful that the Biden Administration is evolving its tough stance on the crypto industry.

Since Biden’s debate performance, he has called for the president to step down as the Democratic Party’s nominee.

Novogratz is among several donors who have collectively contributed $2 million to candidates urging the current president to resign. “End the gerontocracy,” he emphasized on X.
