South Korean Won Overtakes U.S. Dollar as Leading Currency in Crypto Transactions

Kaiko, a research group, reports that the South Korean won has overtaken the U.S. dollar in cryptocurrency trading volume for Q1 2024. Centralized trading platforms saw a total transaction volume of $456 billion in won terms, outpacing the dollar’s $445 billion. South Korea’s crypto market is robust, sustained by five major licensed exchanges within the country.
