The honeymoon section of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) is within the rearview mirror, firmly settling the talk, “Will NFTs make it?” Immediately, we ponder a subtler query: “Which sector of blockchain assets will emerge as the golden goose of Web3?”

On June fifteenth, the world noticed one honkin’ massive generative artwork NFT sale, and massive is perhaps an understatement. On the strike of the gavel at Sotheby’s Grails: Half II auction, Dmitri Cherniak’s Ringers #879, also called “The Goose” bought for US$5.4 million (US$6.2 million with charges included), the second highest-priced value ever achieved for generative artwork. The report is held by one other NFT from The Ringers assortment, #109, which bought for US$7.1 million in 2021.
