Sony Bank Embraces Web3 Technology with NFT Incentives and Eco-Friendly Token

1 min read

Sony Bank has revealed its plans to introduce an NFT-based mobile app and issue a green finance security token on the blockchain.

The CONNECT app, scheduled for launch this summer on Android, will enable customers to earn digital asset rewards in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) powered by Sony’s private blockchain.

Furthermore, Sony Bank’s Web3 aspirations go beyond NFTs. In the upcoming months, the bank will introduce a $1 million U.S. dollar-denominated green security token offering aimed at Japanese investors.

These tokens will be issued on the Securitize blockchain platform, requiring a minimum investment of $1,000. The proceeds will be overseen by Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank and invested in climate change and biodiversity projects.

To encourage participation, Sony Bank will provide token investors with exclusive NFTs through the CONNECT app after completing a survey. This seamless fusion of traditional finance and Web3 technology showcases Sony’s dedication to digitalization across its extensive ecosystem.

The security token issuance expands on a previous collaboration among Securitize, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, and Sony Bank for a digital securities offering focused on Japanese real estate.

As Web3 continues to permeate industries, Sony Bank’s adoption of NFTs and tokenization indicates a broader shift in the financial sector’s approach to emerging technologies.
