Not aware of any crypto exchange using UPI, says National Payments Corporation

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) on Thursday explained that the association doesn’t know about any virtual advanced resource trade utilizing the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) for exchanges.

“With reference to some recent media reports around the purchase of cryptocurrencies using UPI, National Payments Corporation of India would like to clarify that we are not aware of any crypto exchange using UPI,” peruses the NPCI statement.

Personal duty authorities have been provided guidance to do as such by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), a summit body of the annual assessment office, authorities told ANI.

A senior Finance Ministry official said, “Our officers will keep a close eye on the Cryptocurrency exchanges which are around 40 in number where transactions in major coins like Bitcoin, Etherium are going on.”

Officials let ANI know that out of 40 digital money trades, 10 are significantly managing in the deal and acquisition of cryptographic forms of money and their turnover is between Rs 34,000 crore to Rs 1 trillion.

The authority expressed other than crypto trades IT investigators will likewise follow the crypto exchange through announcing substances. The authority expressed that by July 1, 2022, when the office will begin deducting 1% Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) on crypto exchanges, it will become simpler for the office to follow crypto transactions.
